Ahmed and Shreyas Dismantle Fuji

A perfect bowling performance by the Engineers helped register their most comfortable chase against Fuji,
with 181 balls remaining with a healthy run rate. Going through a patch of uninspiring performances, the bowlers returned with a thorough show and as a result the Fuji batsmen could not bat through their allotted 40-overs. The attempt to hit the ball into the river very often resulted in them being bowled out in 22.5 overs.

Ahmed shook off the rust with the ball and shook the heart of the Fuji’s batting line-up. He claimed 5-0-18-4 with the help of his bowling partner ifthihar, who claimed 3-0-9-2 in the Powerplay. Shreyas’ quick fire 35 off just 23 balls – with 3 boundaries and a huge six- ensured his side to win comfortably without any damage. The fast bowlers executed their plan of cramping up all their batsmen, especially Ahmed’s spell which he started
in the 14th over, thwarted their batsmen’s attempt for big shots. Ahmed returned his best bowling figures of 5-0-18-4.

Chasing a modest of 83 runs, skipper Pavethy and Shreyas then provided Engineers a breezy start with the partnership of 24 runs stand between them. But unfortunately the in-form batsmen and skipper Pavethy was ruled out LBW to Vishal. Shreyas , however, was quite fluent with his shots. The second wicket partnership between Shreyas and Praveen (11) added 47 runs but both fell in quick session soon. Eventually, Engineers coasted home when Shiv Prasad hitting a huge six, to help apply the finishing touches to the game.

Ahemd earned Nirvanam Man of the Match for his bowling performance and Shreyas won the Saachi Man of the award.
